Mother Elden Dickey, known to all of our people as one of the oldest settlers in this part of the state and a woman who had the confidence and respect of everyone, died at Lebanon Nov. 21 of old age. The remains were brought here the next day and laid to rest Nov. 23 at Cades’ cemetery, funeral services being conducted by Rev. J. M. Brown. The following obituary notice has been handed us: Elden Shenberger was born Jan. 14, 1816, in York Co., Pennsylvania. She was married to Martin Dickey of Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, Sept. 3, 1840. They lived in Pennsylvania until 1853, when they moved to Indiana and settled in Fountain Co., where they resided until the death of her husband Jan. 5, 1895. After this death she moved to Boone Co. to live with her daughter, Mrs. Hinton Parrett until her death. Mrs. Dickey leaves one daughter, four grand-children and four great grand-children.
